It finally happened. I've arrived. Yesterday I brought my kids to the park and every one of them immediately scattered. So busy were they finding friends from school, and making new friends, they never once asked me to push them on the tire swing or hold them by the hand while they attempted the obstacle course (over, over, over and over again). They didn't need me to carry them when they got hot and tired, to catch them at the bottom of the slide or take them to the bathroom. No, my job was to merely hold their water bottles, which I did, while lounging on a patch of soft grass with my back against a tree. The warm sun on my shoulders almost lulled me to sleep. I was too relaxed to walk around with my camera and take pictures. Instead, I just pulled out my big old zoom lens and snapped away from where I was - sitting cross-legged on the ground, reveling momentarily in how far we've come.
